Community Clothing Closets

“If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,’ and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that?  So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.”  James 2.16-17

So, the zipper doesn’t quite go up on your favorite skirt anymore. And those knee socks that were in vogue last year won’t see the light of day for another decade. Might there be an “Island for Misfit Clothing” that you can send these items to?

Well, YES THERE IS! Bring your clean, gently worn shoes and clothing to Luther Memorial’s fellowship hall and we’ll be thrilled to take them off your hands. There is a designated area for your donations. Clothing will be sorted and taken to one of the inner city clothing closets in Syracuse for distribution to those in need at no cost to them. Currently, your donations go to Brown Memorial United Methodist Church on Syracuse’s Near West Side and First English Lutheran Church on James Street. Outerwear and men’s clothing are always in great demand.

Outreach Opportunities: 1) Volunteers are needed to drive the donated clothing to Brown or First English from time to time; 2) help sort clothing at Brown Memorial United Methodist Church.
